Blog Unofficially Done

I haven't posted here in a month and have no idea when I'll post again. Lately, I've been doing all of my posting on my new blog, chronicling everything going on in my life now in Seattle. So, thanks to my loyal reader(s), and I hope to see you at the new blog.

Computer did something strange

My desktop computer did something strange yesterday. It was on, not being used, and I was on the floor nearby plugging a cable from the TV into the wall when I heard the computer just shut off. The power to the surge protector didn't turn off or anything and none of the plugs to the computer came loose, the computer just turned off on its own. Then, I noticed that the "on" light on the front of the computer, which is green when the computer is on, was flashing orange. I got out my laptop to try to look up information on what might be happening, but couldn't find much. One site suggested the motherboard might be fried. I did the only reasonable advice I could find, which was to take out the RAM and put it back in. There was also a lot of dust on the heat sink for the processor and on the power supply, so I cleaned that off, too. Then I turned the computer on and it booted up in safe mode. I had unplugged the mouse and keyboard previously and they weren't recognized when I plugged them back in, so I just had to shut down the computer. Today the computer seems to be working fine, but I wonder if it's going to do this again. I wish I had some idea of what might have caused this.

I'm moving

I'm moving to Seattle in 10 days. It's probably the craziest thing I've done in my life, but it's the coolest and most exciting thing, too. There are a lot of reasons for it, but basically I'd like a change of scenery and want to experience living in a new area which suits me better than Dallas does. Anyway, my wife and I have been blogging about it at Our Move to Seattle blog.

I updated my photos. I didn't change much, but I removed a few pictures and added a couple. Also removed the unused commenting feature and changed a couple technical things to make it easier for me to update.

Nice to be off of work

I haven't been to work at all this week and I don't have to go back until next Wednesday. It's been really nice not having to go to work, it's been a while since I've had much time off from work, so this is nice. It was really nice spending some quality time with family and friends. Not sure what I'll be doing the rest of the day, but I'll try to enjoy the rest of my time off.

Stairs

I like downtowns, with their old buildings and signs, full of character. A lot of people don't understand that, and it's hard to explain, but I think that's why I kind of like this picture.
